Gardner Moves to Top of Lineup

nypost.com:
New York Yankees’ right-fielder Bret Gardner, batting .140, hit in the No. 9 spot last night in the team’s matchup against the Texas Rangers.

According to nypost.com, this is “the first time Gardner has not been the team’s leadoff hitter against a righty starter.”

Manager Joe Girardi said in a press conference that Gardner’s repositioning in the lineup is an attempt to help him improve in the batter’s box.

“We’re just trying to get him going. It’s a place he hit last year for the most part and had pretty much success there. I’m not saying this is a long-term thing. We’re just trying to get him going.” –Manager Joe Girardi
